It’s go time!

"GO" could be the biggest two-letter word on the planet. It's short, but it packs a huge punch, and at a moment's notice, it can flip your whole world upside down. Sometimes it can ask or require you to give up everything. The basic definition of the word "go" simply means to move or proceed from one place to another. However, in a biblical context there is a deeper meaning, especially as it relates to your purpose.

In the book of Genesis (12:1-3), G-d told Abraham to go. The word "go" in Hebrew can be found in the word lech lecha, lech meaning "go" and lecha meaning "to you." In other words, the biblical definition of "go" means "go for yourself" and "go to yourself." This sense of urgency calls for action to find your truest and greatest self.

When G-d told Abraham to go, this was not a suggestion but a command. This required him to leave his family and his birthplace and to go to an unfamiliar territory. He had to quickly get out of his toxic environment during a time of famine. This journey came with many tests and arduous challenges. Abraham had to confront his personal fears, struggles, family, and friends in order to fulfill his G-d ordained purpose. This personal journey was a prerequisite that G-d used to prepare him for the greatest call of his life: to become the father of many nations.

In that same way, G-d is calling you to GO! It might not literally be a physical move, but maybe an internal one. Going may call for you to break out of a certain mentality, detach yourself from certain people, and grab hold of the bigger vision G-d has for your life. It may require you to confront fears and addictions, manage your time better, divorce complacency, stop making excuses, and so forth. By Abraham going, he was walking in obedience, not convenience. Like Abraham, the father of faith, we must GO!

I encourage you to GO in this season. GO after the vision G-d has called you to pursue. GO to your greatest call. It's okay if you have never traveled down this path or never seen it done before. The Holy Spirit will teach you how to do it and give you everything that you need, so don't limit yourself to what you know or how you think it should take place. "Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step," Dr. Martin Luther King.

Get out of your way by letting go of old ways that hinder you from moving forward, and watch G-d move on your behalf. It's time for you to GO! Rise up, mount up, and fly like the Eagles. GO and find out what you are really made of.
