on your marks…
In the 1800's, the command "on your marks "was stated at the top of a foot race. The runners knew that when this order was given, they were to get their minds set and bodies in position for the race that was about to begin. This call to action was the manifestation of time finally being fulfilled, for the reason they had been training and preparing for had finally come.
Like runners positioning themselves on their marks for a race, we have been chosen to run our own individual races here on earth. The only difference is, no one else is racing with you. Our Heavenly Creator specifically designed it from before the foundation of the world that you would be the only one running for your appointed destiny. He already knows the outcome. He just needs your voluntary cooperation.
Hebrews 12:1-2 declares,"... let us run with endurance. The race set out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning it's shame, amd sat down at the right hand of the throne of G-d."
This scripture encourages us believers to endure. To endure means to bear a difficult process or situation. It also relates to a race that takes place over a great distance, according to the Oxford dictionary.
You may feel like you have been through a long battle, asking yourself, "When am I going to catch a break?!". Maybe you've experienced symptoms of exhaustion, discouragement, disappointment, loneliness, feel forgotten, or left behind. Some matters may have left you feeling so ashamed, you haven't been able to share it with anyone.
I have some news for you: you are entering into a brand new season and what's ahead for you is a breakthrough! As we prepare to cross over into the new biblical year 5786, it's time to get on your marks! All the years and former seasons that you've been in training and preparing for, have signaled you for this transition.
This is not the time to give up or throw in the towel. Keep your eyes set on Jesus who is the Author and Finisher of your faith. Stay committed and focused on your individual race and do not allow yourself to get distracted by anyone or anything, even people who mean you well. Even Jesus had to keep his eyes fixed on His own individual race when those around him were in fear, doubting and hiding.
I am declaring that you will finish strong! You will not lack what you need to complete the task that's ahead of you. Look towards the prize that is your upward calling and press into the brand new that's for you in this season. The past is over and He is saying, "I make all things new." Guard your heart as you run your race and do not grow weary in doing good. Remember, you are not being compared to or competing against anyone else because you're the only one in your lane. Stay committed, focused, and disciplined – on your marks!
